With Joy gone looking for a way to exchange currency, Ryo was alone in a strange place. He'd never been outside of Japan before, so he was as helpless as a sleeping baby was. He just hoped that he wouldn't get into any trouble while in this foreign land.
"Well, looks like I have some time to kill." he said while scratching his head. "Now where to…?" Ryo began walking. He passed three kids who were playing near the fountain. Watching them play reminded him of when he, Ichiro, and Naoyuki used to play like that when they were kids. Ryo suddenly shook that thought out of his head; thinking of that kind of stuff made him homesick. He walked on.
Ryo saw a couple of merchants on the street with their carts. From what it looked like one of them was selling sweet rolls. Ryo walked up to the cart and looked at all the varieties they had.
"You like?"
"Huh?" Ryo looked up.
"Would you like sweet roll?" it was a young Chinese girl, maybe a little younger than Ryo. "They are very tasty! You should try some!"
"Oh, I'm sorry, I don't have any money." Ryo began to turn away.
"Okay, come again soon!" the girl said.
Ryo started walking towards a small diner.
"Hey! What are you doing?!?" someone screamed from behind.
"Huh?" Ryo spun around; it was the girl at the cart, she was smacking a man who arrived right after Ryo left. "What's going on?" Ryo walked towards the commotion.
The man grabbed the girl's arm as he began taking some of the sweet rolls. He looked like an American by the way he dressed, but when he turned around and saw Ryo coming, his face looked Asian.
Ryo grabbed the guy's arm and spun him around. "Hey, what the hell are you doing?"
"Ouch! Ah, this man try to steal! I smack him a couple time and he grab my arm!" cried the girl.
"Stealing?" Ryo looked at the man. "Alright, give back what you stole and get outta here!"
The man began to put back the food that he stole.
"HEY SAM!" a voice yelled. "Wha's taking so long?"
"Huh?" the man looked around. He spotted somebody approaching him. "Oh shit..."
"Now what?" Ryo saw the person he was looking at. "Who's this?"
The man was walking slowly towards the cart. It seemed everybody got out of his way while he was approaching. The man, who didn't look any older than Ryo, had a certain trait about him. He was wearing a blue unbuttoned shirt that revealed his chiseled physique. He wore finger-less gloves on his hands and a white bandana on his head. This guy looked like trouble.
"Yo, what seems to be the problem'ere?" his voice sounded a lot like Gui Zhang's, except not as deep. "You messin' with my boy?"
"Me?" asked Ryo.
"Yeah you."
"This guy was trying to steal from this cart." Ryo pointed to the food the man in red tried to steal. "Then he grabbed that girl's arm."
The man looked at the guy in red. "Oh, Sam. Stealing? Assaulting little girls? Oh, hang your head in shame!" he said sarcastically.
The man in red looked up. "What the-hey, you told me to steal it for YOU!" he pulled his arm from Ryo's grip. "This is 'cause you couldn't buy nothin' at the hot dog place! Jeez, the stuff I'd do for you!"
"Shut the hell up, Sam." the man casually said. "Now you, Mr. Hero, why the hell you interfering in our business?"
Ryo looked surprised. "Interfering? This guy was about to break her arm!"
"So? Shit happens."
"Forget it, just get outta here." Ryo went over to the girl to ask if she was all right.
"Sam, did that guy just tell me what to do?"
"Uh, yeah Ren, I think he did." Sam looked back towards Ryo.
"Well, looks like we're gonna have us a little fun..."
The cute girl who worked at the hot dog stand gave Wong his order.
"Thank you, Miss." he said while walking away. "Damn, she's hot..."
Wong took a big bite out of the hot dog, but before he knew it, the meat fell out of the bun.
"What the-aw damn it!" Wong bent over picked it up carefully. Suddenly, a drunken middle-aged man stumbled past.
"Hey kid, *hic* how's about you's get yourself a job? Then *hic* you won't be eatin' trash! Ha!"
"Aw buzz off, dumb ass!" Wong flicked the guy off.
"Why you little punk..." the man started to chase Wong.
"Uh-oh, I'm outta here!" Wong ran through a crowd of people, but the man was still on his tail.
"Come back here! I'll teach you some manners!" the man yelled.
"I taught your old lady some manners last night, mister! Ha, ha, ha!" Wong dipped into an alley and the man followed. He saw the fence that blocked off the other end.
"Ha! No where to run now, punk!" The man started to slow down.
"Oh... shit..." Wong said while catching his breath. "I gotta stop smoking." he stopped and looked back; the man was slowly walking towards him.
"Heh, heh, heh, now I gotcha!" said the man.
"Oh please mister! Don't hurt me! I'm just a little kid!" Wong shielded himself with his arms.
"What... aw..." the man looked around. "I ain't gonna hurt ya, kid. Forget it." the man began walking away.
"Hey..." Wong said.
"Huh?" the man spun around.
"Here's mud in your eye!" Wong kicked some mud into the man's face and onto his suit.
"AW SHIT! You little brat!" the man tried wiping the dirt from his face.
"Ha ha!" Wong pulled the man's pants down around his ankles and knocked him over.
"Whoaaaa!" the man screamed as he fell into some more mud and dirt.
"Rule number 1, mister: never turn your back on the enemy! See ya later!" Wong quickly climbed the fence and walked away.
"I'll get you kid!" cried the man.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." Wong said. "Ah, my first victory for the day. It's time that I celebrate!" Wong started whistling happily as he walked down the busy street.
"Mr. Ryan, I thought you told me you were reliable, but apparently that's not the case." Lo said while walking back to Terry. "I'm not happy."
"I DO have the stuff you wanted," began Terry. "But it's just not... wit' me."
"Not with you? Then why the hell are you meeting me?" Lo looked back at his associates, then to John who was standing beside him. "Put the case back in the car." Lo shot a look at Terry. "It seems I won't be needing it."
John began to walk back to the limousine. "I didn't think we could trust this guy. Just look at him, punk trash. Ha, ha, ha!" he said while touching his glasses.
Terry looked at John, and then turned to Lo. "Hey, I'll get you what you want. I just need more time."
"Time?" Lo said. "I've given you enough time. If you're not prepared now, then I'm afraid there's nothing else to say."
"Hey boss," Lee, the man in the white suit, said. "I'll told you we couldn't work with him."
"Yeah, he's nothing more than a street punk." John walked up to Lo. "I bet he's not even all that he says he is back in Japan!"
Terry turned around. "...Street punk? I'll show ya who's a street punk!" Terry ran up and slugged John right in the face, breaking the lenses of his glasses.
"AHHHH! Oh, damn it!" Cried John while holding his face.
"Yeah Terry!" a loud cheer erupted from behind.
Suddenly, Lee and Ken approached Terry and grabbed him by the collar.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Ken spit in his face. "Hey, boss, how 'bout we break his legs?"
"Now, now, we don't want to seem unprofessional do we?" Lo said casually. "Let him go." the two men did as they were told.
"That's it, get'em boys!" cried Terry, giving the green light for a beat down.
Almost in unison, Pedro, Shingo, and Satoshi rushed the four men who backed up Lo.
"Yeah! Now it's time to play!" Satoshi yelled. He raised the metal pipe he had in his hand-
"That's enough."
All of a sudden, the impromptu fight was halted, all because of two words spoken from the quiet Lan Di.
"I am trying to get what I want. You two can settle your quarrels later, but for now, just give me the scroll." Lan Di walked up to Lo. "Give it to me now."
"Ha, ha, ha! You're a funny man, Mr. Long!" Lo slapped Lan Di on the shoulder. Lan Di looked at his hand, and then to Lo, his icy stare burned a hole right though him.
"Ha, ha... uh..." Lo was stopped mid-sentence, he was clearly shaken by Lan Di's stare. "Uh... J-John, get the box."
John looked up at Lo while taking off his glasses. "What? Oh, yeah boss." he quickly walked towards the car. When he returned, he had a red box with gold trimming in his hand.
"Here you go, Mr. Long. I hope I've made you happy." Lo said while handing the box to Lan Di.
"For your sake, I hope you've made me happy as well." Lan Di said while taking the box. "We will meet again." Lan Di walked back to his car accompanied by two of his bodyguards. He stepped inside, closed the door, and the two guards quickly walked to the front and drove away.
"Well, Mr. Ryan," Lo began. "It looks like you've already gained the favor of the Chi You Men, but you still haven't given me what I asked for. I want it."
"Like hell! You can get it your own damn self! C'mon boys, let's go." Terry motioned the Mad Angels to follow him back to the car.
"Hold it! What makes you think you can talk to me like that? I am the most powerful member of the Triads; I can do anything I want! Damn it, get me the heroin!" Lo screamed.
"Go to hell..." said Terry while they drove away.
"Are you just going to let him go like that, boss?" asked Lee. "You know what this will do to your reputation, right?"
"Yeah, boss, he's right. It's lucky that you've got guys like us working for you. Don't worry, we'll get rid of him." John started walking back towards the car.
"No." said Lo.
"What?" John turned around and looked at Lo.
"Let him go for now."
"What are you saying? Just let him go like that?" Lee said.
"Yeah, what if we lose him for good?" said Sang while stepping in front of Lee.
"I'll take care of him later." Lo walked back to the limousine. "But as for the other Mad Angels... kill them."
"Are you sure you're all right?" Ryo asked the girl at the food cart. "Did he hurt you?"
"No, I'm fine, really. Just get out of here."
"What? Get out of here?" Ryo looked puzzled. "Why?"
"Just hurry and go!" the girl pushed him away. "You're in danger!"
"What are you talking about?" Ryo stepped up again.
"The bitch's talking 'bout us." the guy with the bandana said. "She's right, you'd better get out of here before you's get hurt."
Ryo turned around and walked up to him. "I don't know what you want, but just leave this girl alone." his voice was firm and strong.
"Oh yeah, we're REAL scared!" the man named Sam said. "You must not know who we are, eh?"
"I don't give a damn who are! Just leave the girl alone!" said Ryo while clenching his fists.
"Ha! You don't look so tough, punk. How 'bout I let you leave here while you can still walk? C'mon, I'll give you a head start," said the man with the white bandana.
...
"Hey, you'd better take the girl's advice and leave, 'less you wanna get hurt."
...
"Sam, what's with this guy? He ain't movin'."
"Ah, must be one of them 'strong and silent' types!" said Sam while slapping his knee. "Hell, he's probably just a pussycat inside! Ha, ha, ha!"
"Yeah, you're right. Look here kid, from the looks of ya, you don't look like you know very much. I'll put this in terms that maybe you can understand." the guy put his hands up around his lips. "Get lost!"
"I'm not going anywhere," said Ryo.
"Whoa! So we got ourselves a smart-ass, eh? Well, I don't like smart-asses," he whistled and out of nowhere, four other guys joined him and Sam. "Ha, ha, ha! Now we can have some fun!"
The four guys encircled Ryo. Ryo looked around with his eyes.
One up front and one in the back, and two on either side.
"NO!" cried the girl at the food cart. "I am sorry, I am wrong. He didn't steal anything."
The man with the bandana shot a look at her. "You shut the hell up bitch!"
Suddenly, Ryo shot to his right and punched the guy standing there twice. Quickly, he then shifted to his left and hit that guy with an Avalanche Lance elbow strike. Ryo spun backwards and blocked the punch swung by the man standing behind him. He kicked him in the stomach and tossed him into the guy standing in front of him. Ryo executed all these moves in one, smooth, circular motion. When the dust cleared, Ryo was still standing.
"What the hell?!?" cried Sam.
"Huh?!?" the man with the bandana scowled at Ryo. "Now you're dead!"
Two of the guys Ryo just beat up stood back up again.
"Uh-oh!" said Ryo.
One rushed at Ryo with a tackle, but Ryo countered by rolling over his back and quickly hit the other guy with the Swallow Dive kick. He turned around and hit the other guy with a jumping back roundhouse kick followed by a smooth Crawl Cyclone heel sweep. The man to his right got up and swung at Ryo, but missed. He swung a second time and Ryo countered by grabbing the back of the guy's shirt and pulling it over his head. Ryo then sent him spinning in mid-air about three times before he hit the ground. Suddenly, Ryo felt strong arms grab him from behind.
"Ah?!? Whoa!" he cried. Ryo elbowed him in the stomach to loosen his grip. Ryo then spun to his side, elbowed him on the back of his neck, and executed the Dark Side Hazuki throw.
"Uh, uh, w-what the hell are you waiting for Sam?!? Get'em!" the man with the bandana yelled while he pushed Sam towards Ryo.
"Y-yeah, okay, boss!" Sam rushed at Ryo.
"Huh? Oh, so you want some to? C'mon!" yelled Ryo.
Sam struck with a right hook-left hook-right uppercut combo, but Ryo quickly blocked all of it. Sam came back again with a right jab-left low punch-right hook-left hook-right jab-left hook-knee strike combo, and Ryo barely blocked the hits.
"Ha, ha! Didn't know what you got yourself into did ya, punk!" he came at Ryo again.
This time, Ryo struck with a high right hook-low left punch-strong right hook-knee strike combo. Sam blocked the first two punches, dodged the last right hook, but absorbed the devestating knee strike. Sam pushed Ryo away, but he came right back. Ryo hit Sam with a high elbow strike-left elbow strike-right hook-left hook-right hook- and followed up with a Back Fist Willow punch. The last combination took a lot out of Sam, as he took the last three punches. Finally, Ryo finished Sam off by executing the Brutal Tiger vertical wheel kick aimed at the head. Sam spun to his left and hit the ground.
Ryo looked up at the leader of the gang. "So, is that all you've got?" he asked.
The man with the bandana started clapping. "Pretty good, kid. Not bad at all." he said.
"Well, you comin' or what?" Ryo asked, still in the Hazuki Style fighting stance.
"Oh yeah. Let's go..." he said while walking towards Ryo.
"Hey, what's going on over here?" a gruff voice was coming from behind the crowd that watched Ryo fight off the gang of thugs. "Move out of the way please! Step aside!" the voice said.
"Huh?" the gang leader said while looking over at the crowd. "Oh shit! Well, it's been fun, but we gotta go! C'mon you's guys let's get outta here!" the guy ran, his fellow gang members limped behind.
"Hey! Hurry and go!"
"Uh?" Ryo looked around.
"Hurry up and get away! They're coming!" it was the girl at the food cart.
Ryo looked back and saw a policeman pushing his way through the crowd. "Uh-oh, I'm outta here!" Ryo ran through a group of people in front of him.
"Okay, okay! Everybody step aside please! You're causing a disturbance!" The officer got through the crowd, but by that time, Ryo was gone.
